@Touchof Grey - Religions, like governments, and organizatioins don't "do" anything. They are not animate beings. The people who make up such collaborations are the ones who "do" things.
It is the evil inherent in human nature that is the problem. Christ asks his collaborators to love their enemies, make peace whenever possible, use government for protection of the people (mainly military and police) , temper justice with mercy, and to do to others as you would have them do to you. Most of the freedoms we enjoy today in the West are a direct result of Christian culture and values. I am very thankful for that.
But, Watchtower doesn't really adhere to NT Christianity. They are not 'fundamentally" Christian. They cherrypick and misapply OT LAW to create a very rigid social system.
My question is whether or not people think that the elders would actually carry out real executions if asked to do so by the Governing Body if they could get away with.... like if they had their own country.
Personally, I think there is no doubt they would just like every Godless Totalitarian Leader that atheists have supported. Atheists killed hundreds of millions in the 20th century with their fundamental adherence to evolutionary tenets and comunist/fascist values. They basically exchanged what they viewed as "opiate of the masses" for poison for the masses. You have swallowed the Atheist/Watchtower lie about "religions".
Here is Watchtower's attitude on the matter according to the Insight Book:
The judicial excommunication, or disfellowshipping, of delinquents from membership and association in a community or organization. With religious societies it is a principle and a right inherent in them and is analogous to the powers of capital punishment, banishment, and exclusion from membership that are exercised by political and municipal bodies. In the congregation of God it is exercised to maintain the purity of the organization doctrinally and morally. The exercise of this power is necessary to the continued existence of the organization and particularly so the Christian congregation. The congregation must remain clean and maintain God’s favor in order to be used by him and to represent him. - Insight Book
They pretty much say here that expelling people is equivelent to execution, and that it is their "right" to administer "Capital Punishment". We all know that if ANY JW went around saying that Jesus was their personal Savior and invited others to allow Jesus in to their heart, they would be disfellowshipped faster than WT could collect cash from a KH sale to a Hare Krishna group.
From their own writings, I think it is reasonable to conclude that they would actually execute members if for example, they named Jesus as their personal Savior.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Diogenesister - the well known fantasy story written by an exjw - set after "Armageddon".
Haven't read that. Sounds very eye-opening though. Let me know if you can remember the name.
